Liberal Youth launch excellent outreach initiative for BME communities

From the Liberal Youth website:

Do you self-identify as being from a Black, Asian, or other ethnic minority background? Do you have what it takes to be a political leader of the future? Do you think young people should be more engaged and involved in the political life? Do you want to gain insight into politics?

We invite you to apply to an exciting weekend to develop professional skills and engage with senior Liberal Democrats, including MPs, councillors and Parliamentary candidates. Throughout the weekend, you will receive training on key skills to help you further your career in politics, meet like-minded individuals and network. This free event will take place at the Liberal Democrats Headquarters in Westminster on 7th and 8th March 2015 and lunch and travel expenses will be covered on both days.

Requirements: This event is open to 18-25 year olds who self-identify as being from a Black, Asian, or other ethnic minority background. No previous experience in politics is required although any community or campaigning work will be a distinct advantage. You should have sympathy with the broad values of the Liberal Democrats, but being a member of the Liberal Democrats is not a requirement.

Links to apply are on the Liberal Youth website. The application deadline is 2 February.

This sounds an excellent initiative. Good luck to all involved.
