Cllr Nick Gregory changes party, yet again

The news that Fareham Conservative councillor Nick Gregory has quit the party prompts the local newspaper to remind people of his record on switching parties:

  1. First elected as a Liberal Democrat (2010)
  2. Switched to Conservatives
  3. Switched to independents
  4. Switched to Ukip
  5. Switched to independents
  6. Switched to Conservatives
  7. Switched to independents

Phew.

  1. I think we need to see MORE of this, not less. For example, if you were a Labour member under Blair, Corbyn and Starmer there is no way that you could possibly have agreed with the policy and programme of all three of those leaders. The argument that you should ‘fight from within for change’ is nonsense. (So, if a party re-introduced hanging and public flogging should you just stick around and try and change it back?) Leave a party when it no longer represents your views. Re-join it if and when it does represent them again (or, with another variable, if your views change so that they re-align with the party).
