Woo! Victory is ours in the war on unusual website legal demands (Part 2)

Yesterday I reported with breathless excitement the news that legal sanity has reached the shores of Shropshire, whose county council no longer demands that people receive written permission before linking to their site.

Today, another victory courtesy of Ipsos MORI. They regularly provide useful information on their site and chances are you have seen myself and other political bloggers often link to the results of polls on it. I’ve even found people such as Roger there very helpful when I have been in need of help locating information on their site.

But…

Someone, some time in the past was let loose with the legal wording and had other ideas. For they took a leaf out of Shropshire’s book and banned people linking to anything other than the front page without written permission.

However…

Rejoice! Rejoice! I contacted Ipsos MORI ahead of writing this post and got back the eminently sensible answer:

Whoever drafted the legal wording has got it wrong, as it is not our intention to put obstacles in the way of people making simple and accurate links to content on our website. So we will be amending these terms and conditions to make it clear that links are allowed.

Onwards, ever onwards.
