I’ve Never Seen Star Wars Series 1: great fun but don’t listen to just before eating

Star Wars Lego

I've Never Seen Star Wars - Series 1The idea behind I’ve Never Seen Star Wars is brilliantly simple: get a famous person into a studio to do a series of common things that many people have done, but which they happen to have not done – such as never having seen the film Star Wars.

Of course, not quite all the experiences can be had in front of a live radio studio audience, so some are pre-recorded in advance (including, much to the audience’s relief I’m sure, Phill Jupitus’s colonic irrigation).

Either way, Marcus Brigstocke does a great job at drawing the humour out of the experiences of his guests, and makes sure that he and we laugh with them rather than at them.

The various seasons of radio series have been much more superior than the TV versions, and although Series 1 shows a few rough edges compared to later series where the team had more experience of what generated the most laughter and interest, it’s still great fun. Though don’t listen to the colonic irrigation sound effects if you’re wanting to eat any time soon after.
