Town Council calls on Conservative MP to quit
It is 46 days since Nadine Dorries tweeted that she would stand down as an MP with “immediate” effect. She hasn’t yet and her constituents aren’t happy about it.
Enter stage left, therefore, Flitwick Town Council (perhaps deliberately copying Frome Town Council):
Nadine Dorries has hit back, as the Daily Express reports:
Sources close to her have pointed out that former three times Mayor of Flitwick and the current chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council Gareth Mackey has declared his intention to stand as an independent for the Mid Bedfordshire seat and has been a member of the town council since 2011.
The sources suggested that the letter could be sent to the Electoral Commission.
It’s not clear how this is a matter for the Electoral Commission as election expenses have not started and, even if they had, this doesn’t sound like an issue where the Electoral Commission is responsible for enforcement action.
UPDATE: A second Town Council has now also called for Nadine Dorries to go.

Surely there could and should be Official Lib Dem news from North-West England (max 1 email/day)? cheers, Robin
There isn’t a regional/national site with a flow of regular stories to power such a newsletter in the same way as there is in Scotland/Wales/London I’m afraid.
